Why Golf Needs to Change — and Where Forewards Fits In?
Golf Monthly recently published a piece exploring the growing disconnect between golf’s traditional values and the mindset of Gen Z — a generation that values fairness, inclusivity, and community above all. One example they spotlighted? Being forced to play from a divot. It’s a tiny moment, but it sums up a bigger issue: a sport built on rules that often feel outdated, unnecessarily punitive, and disconnected from the real-world experiences of new players.
Psychologist Stephen Smith puts it bluntly: “If the values of your sport do not match the core values of the new generation… it will very quickly wither and die.”
At Forewards, we’re preserving the essence of the game: the joy, the challenge, the calm — without the outdated traditions that keep people out. No dress codes. No ego. No awkward moments where you feel like you don’t belong. Whether you’re a seasoned player or you’ve never picked up a club, this is about showing up, having fun, and feeling part of something.
We’re not losing golf - we’re finally making room for more people to love it.
